STEUBENVILLE, OH (September 22, 2011) - A new journal, Quaestiones Disputatae, has been launched by Franciscan University of Steubenville's Philosophy Department. The journal features conference proceedings and original contributions on the perennial questions of philosophical inquiry.

"The title of the journal is derived from the medieval dialectical practice known as a 'Disputed Question,'" said Dr. Paul Symington, assistant professor of philosophy at Franciscan University and journal editor. "It?s a method of inquiry that seeks to bring to the forefront profound difficulties while striving to unravel these difficulties in equally profound resolutions, wondrous paths, and ways of wisdom."

Founded by Franciscan University philosophy professor Dr. Mark Roberts, the journal features original work by scholars from all over the world. Current issues represent the fruit of philosophy conferences at Franciscan University of Steubenville and elsewhere. Papers are selected for inclusion by an expert in the field who serves as special guest editor for each issue.

Two editions are available now, one on the philosophy of French Catholic thinker Jean-Luc Marion and one on the legacy of Neoplatonism. Topics for upcoming issues include the philosophy of St. Edith Stein, early Phenomenology, and the philosophy of Dietrich von Hildebrand.

"I am very excited to be editor of the journal," Symington concluded. "I believe that the journal serves a much needed opportunity for like-minded philosophers and scholars to contribute professionally to the richness of the philosophical tradition and the quality of our lives. I look forward to seeing the journal grow as we obtain more contributors, patrons, and topics to tackle."

U.S. subscriptions are $70 for two years. International subscriptions are $120 for two years. To subscribe and find out more about the journal, see www.quaestionesdisputatae.com.
